Paul Burkhard

Paul Burkhard was an artist whose career extended from sculpture to illustration. Between 1905 and 1913, he worked as a punch cutter, collaborating in particular with Hermann Haller. His training at the Academy in Munich, from 1913 to 1921, enabled him to develop his art through the creation of busts, figures, groups and animals.
He is also known for his designs for motifs for coins and postage stamps, including the famous bust of William Tell featured on the 5-franc coin.
