Obersteg

The Obersteg family, originally from the Simmental, migrated to the Catholic region of Central Switzerland during the Reformation. Their artistic activity is documented from the eighteenth century to the beginning of the nineteenth century, with a notable presence first in Alpnach and later in Stans. Although the precise details of their oeuvre remain unclear, they are recognised as significant painters of their time.
