Marlene McCarty
Born in 1957.
Marlene McCarty is a New York-based artist working in installation and drawing. Since 1983, she has worked internationally and, from 1988 to 1997, collaborated with various artists, including Donald Moffett and Tom Kalin, as part of Gran Fury, a collective engaged in the fight against AIDS. During the same period, she was also a member of the Women’s Action Coalition (WAC).
From 1989 to 2001, McCarty also worked with Moffett in a transdisciplinary design studio, the Bureau, thereby exploring the intersections between art and activism.
