Markus Dinkel

Born in 1762.

Died in 1832.

Markus Dinkel was an artist whose principal activity centred on portrait painting. From 1793 onwards, he practised his profession in Bern, where he contributed to the local art scene. Details of his career before settling in Bern remain uncertain, as does the extent of his influence on his contemporaries.

Although little documented, his oeuvre bears witness to an artistic practice rooted in the tradition of portraiture, a genre that was highly valued during his time.
