Ludwig Meyer Meyer von Schauensee
Born in 1809.
Died in 1864.
Ludwig Meyer Meyer von Schauensee was a recognised topographical draughtsman known for his depictions of the mountainous and lakeside landscapes of Central Switzerland. Around 1850, he invented a device called a toposcope, which contributed to the precision of his works. He also produced dioramas, thereby offering an immersive view of his subjects.
His work reflects a particular sensitivity to topography and the surrounding natural environment, although certain aspects of his career remain uncertain.
