Luca Antonio Colomba
Luca Antonio Colomba (19.11.1674, Arogno — 22.12.1737, Arogno) is documented as a painter active around the turn of the eighteenth century.
He is named as court painter (Hofmaler) to the Duke of Württemberg, and is mentioned from 1715 onwards (the sources refer to the period 1715–1733).
His professional career was also shaped by close ties and collaborations with the Carloni workshop, a family of artists from Scaria (Val d’Intelvi); this relationship is documented alongside his role as court painter.
His works include vault decorations and frescoes; in 1728 he took part in the decoration of the parish church of San Stefano in Arogno, executed in collaboration with the stucco artist Diego Francesco Carlone.
His last known work dates from 1736: two oil paintings for the church of the Capuchin convent in Lugano, a period during which the sources report that he suffered from gout.
