Logovarda
Born in 1943.
Logovarda is the pseudonym under which an artist also named Franz Landry is presented, described as a painter, printmaker and sculptor. The distinctive feature of the documentation is a lengthy stay in Greece: he left for Paros in 1976 and, according to one source, his pseudonym may have been borrowed from the monastery on Paros.
His career began locally; at the age of 23, he opened his first studio in a Roulet family farm above La Chaux-de-Fonds. One source states that he was awarded a federal study grant in 1970 and lived in Greece for several years. In 2005, the Espace Courant d'Art (Chevenez) devoted a major retrospective to him, and in the same year he was included in a selection at the Centre culturel Elizalde in Barcelona.
His work has resulted in publications: L'Homme seul, a group of 35 paintings published by Éditions Courant d'Art (2008), and a monograph with commentary by Slobodan Despot (Éditions de la Matze & Xenia, 2015). The 2015 monograph is explicitly used as a biographical source in the consulted notices. The L'Homme seul project is presented in the sources as a series of paintings created specifically for the publication.
The exhibitions listed in the files include, in particular, the Musée des Beaux-Arts du Locle (2003), participation in Paris (Galerie Atelier Véron, 2021) and at Galerie 2016 in Hauterive/NE (2022). On the market, commercial listings record several dozen works (for example, 38 items reported on Artsper), while other platforms indicate no availability at the date of their survey; these references derive from commercial extracts and require confirmation. This text is based on the available documentary extracts and retains the characterisations provided by these sources.
