Kaspar Jung
Born in 1550.
Died in 1599.
Kaspar Jung was a painter whose activity is documented within the Brotherhood of Saint Luke in Lucerne during the second half of the sixteenth century. His involvement in this organisation testifies to his engagement in the artistic milieu of his time, although little detailed information about his work has been preserved. The Brotherhood of Saint Luke, which brought together artists and artisans, played an essential role in the development of local art, but Jung’s specific contributions remain to be explored.
