Karl Hofer

Born in 1878.

Died in 1955.

Karl Hofer was a German painter and draughtsman. His artistic career took a significant turn thanks to the support of the Zurich patron Theodor Reinhart, who enabled him to stay in Rome between 1903 and 1908. He subsequently settled in Paris from 1908 to 1913, a period during which he developed his style.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Hofer made frequent stays in Ticino, a region that may have influenced his work. The details of his artistic production during these periods remain partly uncertain.
