Karl Anton Schmid was an artist whose activity focused on painting, particularly altarpieces. As a Fassmaler, he is documented around 1732 at the Alpine chapel in Breitenfeld, near Lungern. His most notable work, executed in 1744, is the principal painting of the high altar in the parish church of Sarnen.
