Joseph Mayer
Born in 1883.
Died in 1952.
Joseph Mayer was a painter and draughtsman whose activities took place mainly in Switzerland from 1909 onwards. He devoted himself to creating landscapes and portraits, demonstrating a pronounced artistic sensibility. From 1921, he adopted the pseudonym “Sueve”, under which he continued his work.
After 1938, his career took a different direction, focusing exclusively on scientific drawing for the universities of Zurich. Although less well known, his artistic legacy deserves to be explored in the context of its time.
