Joseph Damien Kappeler was an artist whose activity took place primarily from 1825 onwards in Fribourg, Switzerland. He is recognised as a painter and publisher of graphic works. Kappeler produced devotional images for the Diocese of Lausanne and Geneva.
Between 1830 and 1832, he also created panoramas and views, which were lithographed after his own designs and published by him. His œuvre bears witness to an artistic period marked by a search for visual and spiritual representation.
