Home Swiss artists Johannes Zülle Swiss Art Gallery · St-Prex Johannes Zülle ◇ Born in 1841.
◇ Died in 1938.
Johannes Zülle is an artist recognised for his work as a painter and draughtsman. He is particularly associated with the tradition of Senntumsmalerei, a form of folk art originating in the Appenzell region. In addition to his artistic activities, Zülle also worked as a Sennensattler, a traditional occupation associated with the making of saddles.
His œuvre bears witness to a strong cultural rootedness and to a craft practice reflecting the particularities of his time and region.
