Johannes Pfenninger

Born in 1765.

Died in 1825.

Johannes Pfenninger was an artist active as an engraver and painter. He studied under Christian von Mechels in Basel, which probably influenced his artistic development. Pfenninger is also known for his drawings made for Johann Caspar Lavater’s “Physiognomische Fragmente”, a work that explores the relationship between physical appearance and personality.

Details of his career and artistic impact remain partly obscure, leaving questions about his legacy in the field of art.
