Johannes Kalbermatter

Johannes Kalbermatter was a draughtsman whose activity is documented from 1525 onwards. He held various public offices in Sion, thereby contributing to the city’s administrative life. His work includes contributions on Valais for Sebastian Münster’s “Cosmographia”, as well as a plan of the city of Sion.
These elements attest to his commitment to the geographical and cultural representation of his region, although the details of his artistic career remain partly obscure.
