Johann Rudolf Müller

Born in 1833.

Died in 1892.

Johann Rudolf Müller was an artist whose principal activity centred on wood engraving. He worked in Leipzig under the direction of Eduard Kretzschmar and collaborated with the German engraver August Gaber. He subsequently opened his own workshop in Zurich.

Müller also contributed to the work by Johann Rudolf Rahn entitled «Histoire de la Suisse», thereby demonstrating his commitment to the documentation of Swiss art. The details of his career and influence remain partly obscure, leaving open questions about his impact on the artistic milieu of his time.
