Johann Martin Beck the Elder was a versatile artist whose skills included painting, glassmaking and the art of stained glass. A member of an artistic family, he passed on his creative legacy to his sons Ferdinand Alexander, Johann Jakob the Younger and Johann Martin the Younger. His oeuvre bears witness to a family artistic tradition, although details of his production remain partly obscure.
