Johann Jakob Wolfensberger was a landscape painter. He was active in Heinrich Füssli’s studio in Zurich, where he contributed to artistic training. Wolfensberger spent two extended periods in Rome, during which he was able to further develop his art.
He was also the husband of Hanna Dorothea Wolfensberger-Burdon, who was his pupil. The details of his career and influence remain partly obscure, leaving room for interpretation and for research into his work and his impact on the artistic milieu of his time.
