Johann Jakob Thurneysen der Ältere
Born in 1636.
Died in 1711.
Johann Jakob Thurneysen the Elder is recognised for his work as an engraver. In 1695, he travelled to the Imperial Palace in Vienna, where he worked for Emperor Leopold. His contributions to the art of engraving bear witness to a period in which the copperplate technique was particularly highly valued, although details of his oeuvre remain partly obscure.
