Johann Geisshüsler
Born in 1828.
Died in 1889.
Johann Geisshüsler was an artist whose work encompassed calligraphy, drawing and religious painting. He created images for the churches in Inwil and Hitzkirch. His life, however, took a tragic turn when, in 1876, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder by poisoning.
The circumstances of his life and work raise questions about the duality of his artistic and personal trajectory.
