Johann Caspar Bruppacher the Elder is recognised for his activity as a medallist and engraver. In 1786, he received the medal of merit of the canton of Unterwalden. His name also appears in the minutes of the Lucerne council in 1823.
Bruppacher’s works, both those of the father and those of the son, display characteristics that make them difficult to distinguish, leaving a certain degree of uncertainty regarding the attribution of some pieces.
