Johann Brunner was an artist whose activities extended across several fields. Trained as an officer, he also distinguished himself as a landscape painter and art collector. His involvement in the artistic milieu is reflected in his contribution to the founding of the Solothurner Kunstverein in 1850, alongside Franz Graff.
