Born in 1745.
Died in 1802.
Jens Juel was a recognised Danish painter known for his landscapes and portraits. He notably produced portraits of the naturalist Charles Bonnet and Charles-Auguste de Saxe-Weimar. Juel practised his art at the court of Copenhagen, where he gained a certain renown.
His stay in Switzerland from 1777 to 1780 may have influenced his work, although the details of this period remain uncertain.
