Jakob Wyss
Born in 1515.
Died in 1527.
Jakob Wyss was a stained-glass artist whose activity is documented up to 1527. Around 1515 or 1516, he took over the management of Hans Sterr’s workshop in Bern. Over the course of his career, he received commissions from the authorities of Bern and Solothurn, notably for the production of emblematic stained-glass windows.
Among his notable works are heraldic stained-glass windows made for Wettingen Abbey. In 1527, however, he abandoned his profession, leaving behind a relatively short and poorly documented artistic career.
