Jakob Samuel Maurer was an artist and painting restorer from Trimstein, near Münsingen. His principal activity consisted in restoring paintings, particularly those in Bern’s Rathaus. He was also involved in the manufacture of colours, an essential area of expertise for his profession.
He was also the father of Johann Franz Maurer, who was able to benefit from his father’s experience and knowledge in the field of art.
