Jakob Boden
Born in 1499.
Died in 1534.
Jakob Boden was a painter whose origins were probably connected with the region of Swabia. His career is documented by payments made by the city of Solothurn in 1499. In 1534, he received compensation for a painted figure of Saint Christopher in Bern.
His work, signed with the initials “IB,” is distinguished by a group of altarpieces that shows links with a celebrated workshop of the “maîtres de la clou” of Bern.
