Heinrich Büchler

Born in 1466.

Died in 1484.

Heinrich Büchler was an artist whose activities included painting altarpieces, organs and coats of arms. His presence is documented in the accounts of the Poorhouse in Bern between 1466 and 1467. He is mentioned in the Bern Council records as deceased on 31 January 1484.

Recognised as the city’s painter, he was long confused with the Master of the Bern Carnations, an erroneous identification. The details of his career remain partly obscure, leaving questions about his influence and œuvre.
