Hans Fries

Hans Fries is presented as a painter and sculptor from Fribourg. In 1501, he was appointed city painter of Fribourg. The documented oeuvre includes at least one dated work, Le sermon d'Antoine de Padoue (1506).

These documentary references place his known activity in Fribourg during the early years of the sixteenth century. The assembled evidence confirms his dual practice as a painter and sculptor, although the documentation provided does not at present detail any identified sculptures.
