Hans Leu der Ältere, I.
Born in 1460.
Died in 1507.
Hans Leu the Elder was a painter whose activity is documented in Zurich. He is probably recognised as the head of the second workshop signing with carnations. As a prominent figure of his time, he also passed on his knowledge to the next generation, being the father of Hans Leu the Younger.
The details of his oeuvre and influence remain partly obscure, leaving open questions about his impact on the Zurich art milieu.
