Hans Jakob Dünz II is recognised as a portraitist. In 1633, he donated a Holbeintisch to the Zurich Municipal Library, where it was rediscovered by Salomon Vögelin. A member of the Dünz family of artists, he was the son of Hans Jakob Dünz I, also a glass artist, and the father of Johannes Dünz.
His artistic legacy forms part of a notable family lineage, although the details of his career remain partly obscure.
