Hans Heinrich Laubscher der Ältere

Born in 1605.

Died in 1684.

Hans Heinrich Laubscher der Ältere is recognised for his work as a stained-glass artist and draughtsman. Among other works, he produced a drawn view of the city of Biel, which Matthaeus Merian the Elder used as a model for an engraving in his work “Topographia Helvetiae”, published in 1647. This contribution testifies to his role in the topographical and artistic representation of his time, although further details of his career remain uncertain.
