Hans Heinrich Gessner
Born in 1585.
Died in 1622.
Hans Heinrich Gessner is recognised for his work as a mural painter and decorator, as well as a draughtsman. Between 1609 and 1615, he executed frescoes in the choir of the Stiftskirche in Einsiedeln, attesting to his skill in the art of mural decoration. Although his oeuvre is poorly documented, it forms part of the artistic context of his time, when religious and decorative painting occupied a pre-eminent place in sacred buildings.
