Hannah Villiger

Born in 1951.

Died in 1997.

Hannah Villiger (born 9 December 1951 in Cham, canton of Zug; died 12 August 1997) was an artist whose work found expression notably through photography.

From 1986 onwards, she undertook a professional stay in Paris and, according to the documents, received a stipend for a studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts.

In 1994, she was selected to represent the Swiss pavilion at the 22nd Bienal de São Paulo, where she is mentioned in the sources alongside Pipilotti Rist.

The series entitled ‘Sculpturals’ is identified in the documents as one of the major series in her photographic work.

The biographical and artistic reference points assembled here — her life dates and place of birth, her stay in Paris, participation in the Bienal de São Paulo, and the Sculpturals series — make it possible to situate a documented trajectory between Switzerland and France and to identify precise milestones for further research.
