Gottfried Bräutigam
Born in 1685.
Died in 1740.
Gottfried Bräutigam was a painter whose activity centred on altarpieces and oil painting. From 1685 onwards, he settled in Gruyères, and later in Bulle. In 1709, he obtained citizenship of Fribourg.
The last record of him dates from 1740, when he is mentioned in connection with his painting work on the high altar of the convent church of Saint Ursula in Fribourg. The details of his career remain partly obscure, leaving open questions about the extent of his œuvre and his influence in the region.
