Gianfredo Camesi
Born in Cevio in 1940, Gianfredo Camesi settled in Geneva from 1958 onwards, going there at around the age of 20.
He began an apprenticeship as an architectural draughtsman in Locarno, where he acquired the art of technical drawing.
In Switzerland, his recorded exhibitions include Baden (Trudelhaus, 1977) and a presentation at Galerie Renée Ziegler in Zurich in 1979.
His work extends from painting to three-dimensional projects: the Lambda cycle, initiated in Paris in 1987, takes the form of oils on canvas and also develops into three-dimensional propositions. He also produced site-specific works and public commissions, including «Anamorphose», a permanent installation in Neuchâtel, and a fountain sculpture in Bad Ragaz dated 1990.
A period of residence in Vienna, from 1997 to 2002, marks an extended presence outside Switzerland. The bibliography includes a monograph by Benteli Verlag (1994) and the volume «Eccéité» (Binding, 2011).
