Georges Reinheimer

Georges Reinheimer (27 November 1844, Brussels — 23 October 1898, Saint‑Josse‑ten‑Noode) was a painter whose pictorial range encompassed landscapes, seascapes, still lifes and portraits. He worked primarily in oil and watercolour.

Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, he exhibited for the first time at the Salon de Bruxelles in 1872 and established his studio that same year on rue d'Autriche in Schaerbeek. The catalogue of the 1872 Salon mentions a painting entitled Chien couché and a pen drawing, while his participation in the Salon of 1875 is documented with works such as Plage en hiver and Portraits.

Among the compositions cited is the genre scene La Sortie de l'école, dated 1880. From 1886 onwards, his output reveals a growing interest in printmaking and drawing, without his abandoning oil painting. His graphic activity is illustrated by the presentation of the etching Hommage à Godin at the Antwerp Universal Exhibition in 1894.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent (MSK) holds a Vue de village avec deux enfants jouant dans la neige, oil on canvas, inventory no. 2005‑Z (57.6 × 41.4 cm). Modern scholarship reprises these references, notably in the entry by C.

Ekonomides (collections.heritage.brussels, 2023), and the artist also appears in online resources such as Wikipedia and commercial catalogues. Overall, the available documentation juxtaposes traditional genres with a graphic practice attested by exhibitions and surviving works.
