Georges Pierre Paul Joseph Chaix was a French painter who studied under Jacques-Louis David in Paris. He settled in Geneva in 1815, where he practised his art and contributed to artistic education as a teacher at the drawing school of the Société des arts de Genève. His career reflects the significant influence of the French classical school while also forming part of Geneva’s artistic context in the early nineteenth century.
