Georg Volmar was a painter of German origin, recognised for his historical and landscape works. He pursued studies in Rome and Paris, which enriched his artistic approach. In 1791, he settled in Bern, where he took up a professorship at the local school of fine arts.
Volmar was also the father of Joseph and Rudolf Volmar, thereby contributing to the continuity of his artistic legacy within his family.
