Gabriel Zehender
Born in 1527.
Died in 1535.
Gabriel Zehender was a painter of German origin, from Gross-Mausdorf in West Prussia, today Myszewo in Poland, or, according to other sources, from Grossmannsdorf in Bavaria. His activity in Basel is documented between 1527 and 1535, where he was a member of the Zunft Zum Himmel. He may be identical with the monogrammist known by the initials G.
Z., although this identification remains to be confirmed. The details of his career and oeuvre remain partly obscure.
