The Füssli family, whose origins can be traced back to Peter I (1421–1476), represents a distinguished lineage in the city of Zurich. Over the generations, its members distinguished themselves as founders of bells and artillery. From the seventeenth century until the family died out in the second half of the nineteenth century, the Füsslis earned a reputation as respected artists, producing goldsmiths, engravers and painters.
This trajectory attests to the cultural and artistic importance of this lineage in the history of Zurich.
