Franz Ludwig Raufft
Born in 1660.
Died in 1740.
Franz Ludwig Raufft was a history painter whose activity took place mainly in Lucerne, Kassel, Hamburg and The Hague. From 1709 onwards, he worked as a court painter in Kassel. The son of Melchior Raufft, his artistic career reflects geographical diversity and involvement in influential circles of his time.
The details of his oeuvre, however, remain only partially documented, leaving open questions about the extent and precise nature of his artistic contributions.
