Franz Joseph Menteler was an artist whose activity was primarily associated with painting, both on canvas and in the technique of painting on glass. He is recognised for his portraits, which attest to a particular expertise in this field. Menteler was also the nephew of Franz Thaddäus Menteler the Younger, which could suggest continuity or a familial influence within the artistic milieu.
Details concerning his career and œuvre nevertheless remain limited, leaving questions about his impact and recognition in art history.
