François Dubois
Born in 1529.
Died in 1584.
François Dubois was a French painter associated with the School of Fontainebleau. Following the tragic events of the Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre, he took refuge in Geneva, where he continued his artistic activity. His career bears witness to the religious upheavals of his time and to the impact of these events on artists.
Although his work is less well known, his affiliation with the School of Fontainebleau suggests a significant influence of the styles of the French Renaissance.
