Ernst Thommen was a painter whose academic training took him to Zurich, Munich and Paris. His work is distinguished by the use of techniques such as fresco and sgraffito. Thommen also contributed to the creation of numerous posters for the municipalities of Pontresina and Davos.
In addition, he held a leadership role as president of the Pro Ascona association for many years.
