Castelli
Born in 1550.
Died in 1750.
The Castelli family, originally from Melide, distinguished itself through its involvement in the arts as stucco artists, painters, and architects. Active primarily during the summer in Germany, Austria, and Italy, the family devoted itself to a variety of artistic projects, while in winter its members would return to Switzerland. This seasonal pattern of work bears witness to an itinerant artistic practice rooted in the traditions of the period, although specific details concerning their works or their influence remain uncertain.
