Bernhard Eglin
Born in 1798.
Died in 1875.
Bernhard Eglin is recognised for his work as a lithographer and draughtsman. In particular, he was the founder of the first lithographic establishment in Lucerne, thereby marking an important stage in the development of this technique in the region. Also the brother of Karl Martin Eglin, he contributed to the dissemination of graphic art in the nineteenth century, although the precise details of his oeuvre remain to be explored.
His views and drawings bear witness to a period when lithography was beginning to establish itself as a means of artistic expression and visual reproduction.
