Beat Ermatinger
Born in 1951.
Died in 2018.
He worked in both unique works and installations: his works could occupy walls and space, and many constituent elements of these installations still survive.
The studio corpus comprises more than 600 sketchbooks, of which the family has published a facsimile, offering an approach to his working method.
According to his daughter Eva Ermatinger, his way of conceiving and practising art was closely linked to everyday life, a perspective that sheds light on the relationship between his objects and the domestic space.
In the year following his death, the family and artist friends organised an exhibition of the holdings at Kunstraum Reinart.
The family has also established a storage/archive facility in his former home and assumes responsibility for the organisation and enhancement of the holdings; his former partner is identified as Katharina Haller.
