André Gigon
Born in 1924.
Died in 1991.
André Gigon was a sculptor and printmaker who left his mark on the art scene of French-speaking Switzerland. In 1955, he became a founding member of the Collège vaudois des artistes concrets, a group that promoted abstract and geometric art. His works, often made of concrete, were integrated into architectural projects, testifying to an innovative approach in which sculpture and the built environment meet.
The impact of his work on contemporary art in Switzerland deserves further exploration, although some of his works have yet to be discovered.
