Ambrosius de Muralto
Born in 1487.
Ambrosius de Muralto is recognised as a painter whose oeuvre is distinguished by signed and dated frescoes, notably in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo in Lugano. Although his artistic activity is documented, questions remain regarding the extent of his oeuvre and his impact on the artistic landscape of his time. The cathedral’s frescoes attest to a level of skill that merits further exploration.
