Aloïse was an artist whose work consists primarily of paintings and drawings. Her artistic career was marked by her institutionalization in a psychiatric hospital from 1918 onward, during which period she produced her entire body of work. Far removed from traditional art-world circuits, her art conveys a singularity and depth that merit exploration.
